John A. Narron, Jr. is the current Hitting Coach for the Milwaukee Brewers, and the former Assistant Hitting Coach of the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball. He is a confidant and friend of center fielder Josh Hamilton and acts as an "accountability partner" to help Josh in his recovery from drug addiction. Their relationship dates back to when Narron coached Hamiliton in travel leagues and he and his brother Jerry Narron were instrumental in Hamilton's return to baseball while with the Cincinnati Reds.
Narron spent 2007 with the Cincinnati Reds organization as the Reds Major League Video/Administrative Coach. Narron spent four seasons as a coach in the farm system for the Milwaukee Brewers, including stints as hitting coach and manager at Rookie-level Helena Brewers, in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
Narron was a first baseman in the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox systems. He is the brother of former Rangers and Reds manager Jerry Narron, who is currently the Bench Coach for the Milwaukee Brewers.
He played in college at East Carolina University.[1]
